Dear fellows interested in the meta-theme of the homo faber's demiourgy,
On behalf of the board of the Romanian Society for Engineering, Philosophy and Technoetics (SRFIT - the decision no. 3/April 7 2010)), it is my privilege, to kindly invite you to participate at PHEADE’10 (Philosophy of Engineering and Artifacts in the Digital Era – 2010) conference, which will be held in October 2010 in Suceava - Romania (26-28)
Please note that SRFIT and the consortiium has decided to organize PHEADE’10 based on the international success of the previous conference, PHEADE ’09 - a Proceedings volume is in print at Cambridge Scholar Publishing, that will be, hopefully, official lauched during the conference.
The theme of PHEADE’10 is the Engineered Singularity. The research community will have a considerable profit from this event, because it is completing the map of the transdisciplinary and complex investigations, when focusing on the implications of the humans and machines merging, the so-called Singularity, that means “the technological creation of smarter-than-human intelligence” (SIAI = the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence).
This is one of the most appealing themes nowadays, as it overpasses the classical digital divide, by introducing future new form of inequalities and problems related to human rights and the preserving oh human being identity.
Moreover it is directly related to the new debate on the status of the engineering sciences as being central to any human activity in a future dominated by nanotechnology, robotics and genetic technologies.
It is also related to the aims of assembling, educating and inspiring “leaders who strive to understand and facilitate the development of exponentially advancing technologies and apply, focus and guide these tools to address humanity’s grand challenges” (Singularity University - http://singularityu.org).
It is, therefore, obvious why tis subject for: metaphysics, philosophy of engineering, philosophy of technology, philosophy of the artificial intelligence, philosophy of computing, philosophy of mind, theology, technoetics, neurobiology (of wisdom), psychology of the artificial intelligence, communication sciences, a.o. They will all claim the right to debate around the proclaimed near arrival of the Singularity.
PHEADE’10 also intends to be a part of the worldwide celebration of the celebration 2010 UNESCO Philosophy Day in Romania.
We have the confirmed international logistic support of:
